Sewer odor from shower drain

I've been researching this on the internet before calling the plumber, and it seems to be a common problem with no easy answer!

This is what I've done so far: poured tons of bleach and other cleaning products down drain. Unscrewed pop up drain and overflow plate and scoured PVC pipe with brush. Snaked drain with nothing coming up. And lastly, had pro check vent on roof for blockages. The smell returns.

Both showers in house are regularly used, as with all sinks. I am probably going to call the plumber, but I like to figure out how things work and would appreciate any insight.
