I flushed the toilet by the shower and listened for the gurgling sound at the drain and couldn't hear anything. However, in checking out all fixtures, I noticed that the toilet in my downstairs bathroom was 'hissing' when not being used. I took the lid off and noticed that the screw holding the flapper ball was loose. When I tightened it with a screwdriver, the hissing stopped. I think this was causing a small leak in the toilet? Do you think that could cause the trap to be dried out and cause the smell in the upstairs shower?
