I appreciate the tips. strapping typically isn't done around here, and neither is plaster. I am building my own house, and so I want it done right.
A friend of mine in the drywall business used the metal strapping in his own house and he claims it is much easier to get everything in plane, because the metal is much stiffer than the wood 1x3s and of course don't warp. He says you don't have to eyeball things as much because you can count on the metal being straight, then just shim the gaps. I'm a wood kind of guy, but what he says makes sense. Any reason you see against using the metal?
