Thank you everyone for your comments. They are very helpful. However, when I went to remove that pipe I quickly found out that there is still gas in that line. This was unexpected since I could see all of the gas lines in the house, except one. Oh well. With this being in a tenant apartment, it was suddenly not worth the trouble. Someday I may have the opportunity to disconnect that line. At that time, I'll have a much better idea on how to repair the floor. Thanks again. Louis
