I have a pressure treated deck. After waiting a few years to apply finish, I prepped and then applied an oil base wood stain on the sides and rails. A neighbor was applying an opaque gray stain (oil?) and splattered their product all over my deck floor before I stained it. They tried to remove the grey a number of ways but nothing worked. We compromised by my agreeing to go with a solid stain on my floor (the first coat of which was purchased and applied by my neighbor). Within a year, it was peeling like crazy. It was a water based stain. I had the deck pressure washed last summer and reapplied another brand of water based stain. Just months later and ITS PEELING AGAIN! I know that I cannot apply oil over water base BUT WHAT CAN I DO?? PLEASE, CAN ANYONE HELP?!?
