Is that how your parents potty trained you? Well, it doesn't work on animals either.

There are many reasons your cat won't use it's litter box. It could have an infection in it's urinary tract or bladder. You may be keeping the litter box "too clean", a cat returns to it's usual place to urinate but if the litter box smells like the rest of the house how can he know what's the usual place? A few years ago my cat started limping. The vet determined that the perfume in the litter we used was literally burning the skin on the pads of his feet. I switched to an unscented litter and the problem was solved. Also, pets are very in- tune with the emotional atmosphere. They become afraid when their people are in a state of constant tension and this can cause involuntary "accidents". So you see, the cat isn't doing this just to annoy you. Cats are very clean animals and the problem, as well as your past "solutions", are probably more upsetting to it than they are to you. If you are going to have a pet, you need to show some compassion too.
