smelly house

I have a smell in my house that resembles the smell of something dead. maybe it is mold? It is more noticible when there is moisture outside. We had a leak in the attached garage. We tore out the drywall and insulation but the smell is still there. The only other place it could be is where the heat/air unit is in a closet in the middle of my house that leaked. How do I get rid of it before I get a recking ball and tear this whole house down!!
