I've successfully done this on my Hunter fan. After removing the remote receiver which contains the capacitors for the fan, I was left with four wires to the fan motor - red, gray, yellow, pink.
**Do the following at your own risk - it worked for me, but I'm making no guarantees. Also, try not to electrocute yourself!**
I purchased a 4.5uF capacitor (I believe the 5.0uF would have worked great also). I wired the motor as follows:
Red motor wire to red capacitor wire
Yellow motor wire and white capacitor wire to white neutral wire.
Gray and Pink motor wires to black hot (120VAC) wire.
This setup causes the fan to run in high speed, blowing air downward.
A wall-mounted fan speed switch will provide you low, medium, and high.
Switching yellow and pink wires will give you reverse. Was this post helpful? Yes: or No:
