I am renovating a second floor bathroom in my 95 yr. home and would like to move the toilet in the process. The new location is on the opposite side of the nine foot room. I have two important questions. One question I have is about putting the drain through the 6 or 7 2x12 joists. Can the joists take a hole that large and still hold the house up? Would sistering the joists do it? Second and equally important... can the toilet drain pipe be pitched to drain effectively at that distance? What is the proper pitch per foot? What if the connection to the stack is higher? Can the connection be lowered? (I know its more than two questions...sorry.)
