* Trip the CB for this circuit.
* With an ohmmeter, Check for continuity between the Neutral and earth ground at each outlet.
* The reading should be close to ZERO ohms.
* If not, then the Neutral wire is not making contact from the room where everything works to the room where nothing works.
* The tester with a glow light doesn't tell what the voltage is.
* Check the voltage between the hot wire and earth ground. It should measure 120 volts.
* Plug an extension cord into an outlet where the lights work.
* Take the other end of the cord into the room where the lights do not work.
* TURN OFF THE CIRCUIT BREAKER!
* Measure ohms between the pins at the end of the cord and pins on the outlet.
* The ohms should be one ohm or thereabouts, certainly not more than 10 ohms between like pins.
* If the ohms are high or no reading, then that wire is open.
