I have a 100 year old house - wood frame 1.5 story. Roof is a 12/12 pitch. Unfinished attic space is being converted to living space. I want to get the whole house insulated.
The contractor want to blow in dense packed cellulose, behind the ceiling drywall. He's saying that I don't need air channels because the cellulose is packed in tightly, and will effectively prevent air circulation/moisture out, and therefore won't freeze ( as opposed to fiberglass batts which would require the channels and ridge/soffit vent system).
