In reply to Whirlpool ACQ184XMO AC - Fan has 1 speed/unit shuts off by KJKlaw on August 9th, 2007 11:06 AM [Go to top of thread]

As I replied to your other forum posting:

** Whirlpool AC [model] ACQ184XM0 **

** At the end of last year the fan selection stopped working. There was only 1 speed **

Do you mean it runs at the same speed on any of the different speed settings or it will only run when on one particular speed selection?

In either case the control (which on your model looks to be electronic) or the motor is suspect although a motor problem would be unusual (although not totally outside the realm of possibility) to cause running at the same speed on all settings (if that is what is occurring).

** With the heatwave in the Northeast, the unit seems to be bogging down. **

What exactly do you mean by that?

** After a period of time, the unit will shut itself off. **

Everything? Fan and compressor??

** I did not want to do anything, since the major parts are still under warranty **

After the first year the only parts that are still covered by warranty is the compressor and the sealed refrigeration system. None of that would affect operation of the fan motor.

** I do not have the wiring diagram **

There should be one on the appliance somewhere, usually inside it.
