Remote control garage door

For some reason it seems my garage door remote does not work at any distance any longer. If I take the remote and stand directly under the main unit the remote will work. however, if i walk 2 feet away the remote no longer works. None of my car remote access units or my outside unit seems strong enough to reach the main unit. It seems like the antenna on the main unit does not work any longer - I did check it (Externally), it seems to be fine. My system worked fine - i seemed to happen all of a sudden. Can anyone HELP ??
