there is one thing that humidex does not tell you. where the replacement air comes from.

when the humidex depressurizes the basement air comes from the upstairs. THEN REPLACEMENT AIR COMES FROM THE OUTSIDE.

THAT REPLCEMENT AIR IS UNCONDITIONED. You did not indicate your climate, but in most of the country it is HOT AND HUMID and will cause the air conditioner to run overtime (if it can even keept up).

"I want to dehumidify my basement to make a dry area..."

If you have water problems THOSE NEED TO BE FIXED. NOT A BANDAID APPLIED.
