You did not give the make and model number of the opener.

If the unit is a sears opener then the model number will be in the form of 139.xxxx

Also if it has it the date of manufacture.

Look for labels under the lense covers, both of them if it has 2.

Also describe t the keypad. What are the buttons labeled and what else does it say?

If the door will open, but not close with the remote then that is a problem with the safety sensors.
