Thanks, Billhart! The instructions say tie black to black and white to white. Comical isn't it? The wire indeed is two wires molded together and upon inspection I did see that the wire without any writing on it has multiple ridges on it and the other wire is completely smooth all the way around. If I read your earlier reply, the wire with the ridges is the neutral (white) and the wire that is completely smooth is the hot (black)?
