Outside of the HRV and ERV systems using a QUALITY bathroom fan and a barametic damper for makeup air is inexpensive and effective.

But it needs a QUALITY fan. Panasonic make many and some of Broan qualify.

You want a low SONE rating. Most cheap bath fans sounds like playing card in bike spokes to make a "motorcycle". The good one's are so quiet you can't tell when they are on.

Some of the Panasonics are two speed. You set the slow speed and it is also tied to the light to go on full speed when the light is on.

Also Air Cycler.

It uses a motorized dampener on the furance and the furance blower motor.

Here is a control that can be used for a bathroom fan.

It keeps the fan running a program amount of time after the light is turned off. I saw where one person liked this scheme as it automatically adjusted the ventalation based on the number of people using the home because the bathroom(s) would be used more often with more people and thus the need for more ventaltion.

Here is another type of control that can be used with a simple fan.

They also offer ventalation systems.

The cheaper one is just a balance vent system. IE, air out/air in.

The more expensvie ones also have energy recovery features.

Here are some of the Panasonic and other fans.

Note - EFI is non-profit distributor of all kinds of energy saving supplies and equipment. They also work with many powwer companies that offer special dealls on CFL bulbs.

Except for the one timer switch any of this stuff is available from other sources. Just that they have it so many options in one spot.
