Thank you Henry, for your response. My husband thought that lacquer might give the table extra protection. We sprayed 3 coats of polyurothane varnish and it is a pretty nice finish, however it seems to have sunk into the grain in spots. Do you know if this is normal? I just want to be sure the table will be protected from liquid.
