Non-hardening caulk/sealant used on doors

I bought a used french door and disassembled it for refinishing. The caulk used on the stationary door was a clear non-hardening gummy product. I would like to reassemble door using the same but not sure what it is. Didn't appear to be the typical silicone or urethane as it was gummy.
