Bathroom paint VOC smell after shower

Hi, I moved into an apartment over a year ago, and the apartment had been freshly painted at that time. Now, after I shower, the bathroom smells strongly of paint, even though it's been well over a year. Is there something wrong with this paint -- could it be a cheap or outdoor paint that emits VOCs in high humidity or heat? I read that formaldehyde in the FEMA trailers was exacerbated in high heat and humid weather, so I hope something similar isn't happening in my bathroom. Any tips greatly appreciated.
