Vulkem IS a brand name. I don't buy it. They probably make lots of stuff, but we're only concerned with caulk. When I need it, I tell the GC to get me some of that vulcan stuff. I tell him why and he gets it. I've never read the tube or a spec sheet so I can't tell you exactly what the make-up is. I just know it's some seriosly nasty gooey s**t that isn't silicone. Same with "Marine caulk". Other people get it when I need it on a commercial job.
To the original poster; AGAIN:These were suggestions of other nasty very good caulks that aren't silicone. The other posters can probably tell you better more specific caulks, proper names ,uses and all that fun stuff. You should obviously take their advice. Mine were just SUGGESTIONS like I said before. I didn't see anyone else answering your post so I gave it a shot. Bottom line is though; we can't see, smell, or touch your caulk over the internet. If you want the most accurate answer, take the other guys suggestions, and a peice of your caulk to someone in your area who knows this stuff and tell them where it came from. They can see it and give you a very accurate answer as to what it is. Without actually seeing it or touching it; we can only speculate.
