furnace main not coming on

I have a 25 year old Flamemaster furnace. The main flame is not coming on: however I did still have a pilot. I tried cleaning the thermocouple, than after over a half hour of trying to get it to stay light, I decided to replace it with a new one. I still did not have any luck to keep it lite. It appears like a permissive is holding me out?? My thermostat is asking to fire as well.
Any help would be great as it is the weekend and it is dipping below freezing at night. Thx!
