I have a small appliance and I am tried to figure out the wiring. One of the black wires is not connected and I am trying to get it connected in the right spot.

The switch is a basic on/off switch. The switch has an L and a 1,2 and 3. The 2 leads coming from the power chord (black and white) go into the switch almost in the same spot. The black goes into the L (which I assume is load) and the white is right beside it. There are 2 blacks going from the motor to the switch. One goes to the 2 and the other one is disconnected. I don't know if this disconnected wire should go into 1 or 3.
My question is where does this disconnected wire go?

Thanks.
