I totally agree with you. The main disconnect is in the breaker box itself and it is an older house. The basement was refinished and it looks like its all newer cable, even the older cable going to the kitchen lights has a ground. So I figured I will be doing exactly what you say with checking box by box. Similar thing happend with the Catv outlets. The homeowner before me definetly could of done a better job. Another thing is: Going to my lights I have 2 breakers: 1 Red wire and 1 Black wire plus neutral and ground. How does that work? Why not just 1 hot wire?
