Guidance on starting up old submersible pump and pressure tank

I just purchased an old farmhouse whose water supply came from a spring. The current “system” consists of a cistern, 3-wire submersible pump (unknown brand/horsepower), and glass lined pressure tank (Sears model). The previously operational system has not been used in 3 years and the cistern is empty. I repaired the PVC line into the cistern and it is presently filling. The electrical to the pump and pressure tank is intact and the pump ran for the short period of time I (accidentally) had the breaker on. I don’t know yet if the water line from the pump to the house is intact. Any advice would be appreciated on what I need to do to further prep the pump, the pressure tank, or waterlines before firing the thing up once the cistern is full. I’ve researched the mechanics of pumps and tanks, but I’ve not be able to find anything on starting up dormant systems that have not been used for a while. Many thanks.
