rainsoft causing corrosion?

Posted by ryansdad24 on November 9th, 2007 12:19 AM

The house I bought has a rainsoft water softener. Due to some corrosion in my pipes, I had a plumber come out to do some work. He came out and immediately saw that when the rainsoft unit was installed, they did not put dielectric unions between the copper (which they installed) and my galvanized steel pipes. The plumber (whom we trust and have used for years) looked and saw corrosion throughout our pipes and they need to be replaced immediately. The damage done by the corrosion was the worst he had ever seen. Can we hold rainsoft liable for any of our repair costs? Any input and or advice is very much appreciated. Thank You.
