First, you need to find out the make and model, then consult the manufacturer to find out if they will still warrantee changing fuels in the yet unspecified device. If you modify a furnace from its design, then you have to tell the fire marshal and the insurance company how you determined it was safe to do so if there ever is an explosion or fire.
