You are generalizing. When you speak of Cambria pricing and fab methods, you mean your LOCAL fabricator of Cambria. All Cambria installers don't use the photo-top technology. We don't because it's a bunch of hogwash. it's a shortcut that does not benefit the consumer. We install both Silestone AND Cambria and it doesn't matter which product we buy, because we are independent installers and we can use any method we like whether we are installing granite, cambria or whatever. You have to remove Formica BEFORE you template. If you don't, you are taking a risk that the cabinets are NOT level and you will have to retrofit your ALREADY cut tops to the cabinet situation you find underneath the Formica. Why? Because Formica installers bend Formica over cabinets that aren't level. Find a stone installer that will do it the right way which is to take the Formica off, template and then put it back on. Take it off again at install and put the stone on. Then you won't have a sloppy fit. Pricing is regional. And it's true, Lowe's doesn't carry either. They carry Zodiaq...which is higher priced here. You can argue which is better until your blue in the face, but the real reason you should buy something is because of your trust in the installer. Find an independent if possible instead of going through the BIG BOX. If the fabricator IS the installer, then once again, get references and do your research. Big Shops make money by doing volume, find someone who makes YOU important to THEM.
