Bought a house that was never taken care of. Long story short - I went to clean the compartment in the basement for the oil fired burner and what I thought was clean few months ago was actually compacted debris!

I emptied 6 5 gallon buckets of soil/leaves/sut/ect. I am still not finished. I gave up! The smell was unbearable from I think the fireplace smoke or oil burner. Not sure.

I just called a professional but have you guys seen 10 years worth of build up in the flus?? No Cap on roof either!

Chimney Flu is black. Does that mean a fire happened?

My hot water took 10 minutes to come hot, now 30 seconds!!

Main question is is that how the oil burner breathes?
