Hot tub base/wiring?

My husband and I are very excited to move into our newly constructed home, but we really want a hot tub by summer. We aren't sure whether to pour a concrete pad or construct a deck to accomodate our hot tub. I'm guessing that to wire with a deck the lines run through conduit hidden beneath the deck, and on a concrete pad conduit is hidden beneath the concrete prior to it being poured or ran underground? Which is more sensible to go with? I don't know of anyone who has a hot tub to answer this question and my contractor isn't very familiar with hot tubs either.
