Can you please tell me the rules for notching floor joists. I thought that it was like 1/3rd rule. I had to drill a 3" hole into a 9 1/4" floor joists. I sistered a 2" x 4" x 4' on the bottom third of the joist with liquid nail and 16D nails. Can you please let know if there are set rules for joists. Thank you very much for your help.
