OK....we've determined the problem to be the diverter....the center knob.......the washer needs replacing .....of course you'll need to determine IF you need to replace the seat.....You'll need to get to the nuts.....sometimes they're covered by the tile.......

Here's a picture of what you're up against.....

You need to get to the last item in the exploded view.....you need the wrenches....they're long/hollow so they fit over valve stems and fittings.....You're after the Large nut....deep near the valve......Lefty-Loosey

When you get it out replace the washer and screw.....check the seat for damage....replace if necessary....

Lube the fittings with waterproof grease when assembling......Does it work ?

I had an old diverter I couldn't fix.....the valve body was eroded.....

I installed a new spout/diverter "temporarily"......."turn the handle and lift the spout"......been working fine for MANY years.......

"...measure once.....cut twice....throw that one away and cut a new one...."
