The old dishwasher height and tiled floor dilemma Posted by DanO on January 6th, 2008 10:51 PM In reply to Cut / Remove Ceramic Tile For Dishwasher by chewster999 on January 6th, 2008 05:06 PM [Go to top of thread]
** Our new dishwasher is about 1/4" too high to fit in the existing opening. Our existing tile floor extends all the way through the dishwasher enclosure. **
How "new" is new. Can you return it and get a shorter model?
** wheels removed **
It sounds like you purchased a 'convertible' dishwasher. Will a dedicated built-in model fit in the existing space? If it does, that is the route I would suggest you take.
If not, there is one model I've come across that is even shorter than the usual height of a built-in model. You can see it at the following link:

** I need to remove tiles and parts of tiles behind the dishwasher kick plate line. **
I think you'll have to do more than that if you're going to try to fit the dishwasher into that space unless you can temporarily (or permanently) raise the counter top first to fit it into place.
*Also, please keep in mind it will likely have to come back out again at some time for service. If it does ever have to come out, most service technicians will NOT attempt to remove it installed like you describe. You'll have to first make it "accessible" for them before they can perform any required service.
