its possibly due to frost in the ground which expands the soil due to physics - liquids (soil moisture)
'as directed' didn't take that into consideration,,, conc post footers well below anticipated frost depths would've resolved this,,, wait til spring & re-do your work.
obviously if they're on TOP of the patio, the problem's more extensive,,, you never set posts on top of a surface patio w/o expecting trouble in cold weather climates.
