My opener makes a hum sound for approximately 2 seconds and doesn't move. Prior to it not moving, the mechanism made a loud squealing noise about three times before it failed to move.

I have opened the unit and spray an excellant lubricant/penetrating oil into all the moving gears. etc. I have taken a plier and moved the drive shaft coming from the motor to the worm gear and it moves albeit not easily but then I am trying to move the entire door system when turning it.

The system is running of an outlet covered by a GFCI and this has tripped twice in the past week after attemtping to operate the opener.

Would it seem logical that the capacitor has died? Or would it be safer to assume the brushes in the motor have failed??
