Getting rid of spackling outline.

Two options:
1) - I wouldn't use a power sander but would use a medium grade grit to sand the edges of the area showing, prime, seal and paint. (Hand sanding is a penalty for missing this area before you painted. LOL )
2) Roughen the paint with a medium grit and spackle the edges of your 'mistake' to make it feather out to zero, sand and proceed with primer etc.
