Few garage door openers have motors with brushes. And motors with brushes don't have starting capacitors.

The FIRST thing to do is to disconnect the opener from the door and manually work the door.

A broken door spring will stall the opener.

The door should be balance and not catch anyplace as you manually open and close it.

Then try operating the opener without the door connected.

And you did not indicate the brand or model. Many of them have self diagnotic codes.
