The difficulty of replacement depends upon how the old one is installed. If it is screwed on, then the replacement is quite simple - simply unscrew the old and reinstall a new one (using pipe dope on the threads). However, if it is a solder fitting and is behind drywall, the fix gets more complicated, as you have to cut an access hole in the wall and unsolder/resolder.
