Sliding glass door repair

I have a sliding glass door that is old but in very good condition with one major exeption; it is very hard to open and close. The rollers are in good shape but the rail they ride on is badly worn. It has numerous dips in various spots along its length. Surely there is a way to replace or repair the threshhold and/or rail. My numerous web searches have turned up nothing. Has anyone else had this problem? Were you able to find a solution besides door replacement?
