If it is a beeswax (only) finish (and not a film finish polished with a beeswax concoction):

Wax (-only) finishes are the closest thing to no finish at all. They are not impervious to water, despite what you might think. In addition, beeswax melts about 145F, well below the boiling point of water.

That's the bad news.

The good news is that it is easily renewable by re-waxing. Go buy some quality furniture wax. And keep it around because you'll be re-waxing periodically. I am loathe to recommend any particular brands because most of the ones I'm familiar with that contain beeswax promote themselves with myths, misperceptions and often outright lies.
