Siding up a pitched roof

Posted by Morris P. Kins on January 18th, 2008 09:58 AM

I have to side a wall above a roof with a 2 pitch spaning approx. 18'. On the left is a corner board and on the right a 3/4" x 3/4" inside corner ground. I know I have to angle the first course to follow my roof.My issue is: from the bottom of the corner board, level dyes into the roof before I get to the ground(starter course plus 1 overlay). My second course 5" up corner board runs level to bottom of ground. How do I start so I don't overlap or see bulge trying to get my first two courses run? Do I start at level where roof meets? Do I have to angle the bottom of shingles trimming until gone?
