Basement Floor Drain

Posted by wailun on January 19th, 2008 07:50 AM

I have a basement floor drain that occasionally (may be a couple or three times a year)backs up and leaves a puddle of water around it. When the water dries, it leaves a bunch of sand or silt like substance. This is the same drin that that the furnance drains into. I do have a sump pump.

Can some one tell me what caused this and how I can fix it? Would snaking the drain help?

Help!!!!
