Attic Stair Insulation

I was able to put a 1/2" or so foamboard insulation between the back of the stair and the covering plate. I also put a thin hardboard covering over the top to keep my toes from swishing the foamboard. This is not a lot of insulation, but better than nothing. The drawback is that it adds weight to the stair which can offset the cheap hinge/spring mechanism.
