Furnace Blower Motor/Thermostat Problems

My Lennox Elite Series furnace's blower motor does not engage when the thermostat is in the Auto mode. When I switch the thermostat to the On mode, the blower motor engages and seems to operate OK. What are the possible problems and solutions?
