Could the movement be a space under your hardibacker?

I always put a layer of mortar thinset between the subfloor and the durock. Then I screw the heck out of it.


I tiled right onto concrete last week, just a small corner area for a wood stove to sit on. The mortar took 3 days to dry due to the temp of the concrete, It was 9 below outside. I had space hear and 500w halogen lamp next to it for 2 days.

I don't figure it will last as long as a job that is done in the summer. Like concrete mortar is best if dried evenly from both sides.
