I built a platform/pedestal for our washer & dryer, using 2x8's (standing on their edge), basically a box with crosspieces. The floor they're on is slighlty unlevel, about a half-inch. One solution is to "shim" the side that's lower, simply inserting a slat of wood under the frame at that end. I tried this, and it feels solid, but I'm wondering if it's not better to let every inch of the pedestal rest on the floor, and simply adjust the "feet" of the washer and dryer for balancing.
The appliances will be installed today.
