French window

I am not sure what you are calling a french window.

A french window is much like a french door. That is two units with where each swing on hinges on the outside and meet in the middle.

Basically 2 casement windows without a divider between them.

The picture on the top left is a french window.

The lites (glass) can be TRUE DIVIDED LITES where there is a wood frame (muntins)and each segment uses a separate piece of glass. With insulated glass the muntins need to be large and it is expensive to have that many different pieces.

So most windows use simulated divided lites with a grides or grilles. If this is what you are talking about I have never it called tines in the US.

But the grides have nothing to do with french windows. They are used on all all styles of windows.

There are some 3rd parties that make them. You will need to do some googling. Most hits are for window manufactures.
