How to get glue out of shoes?

I recently purchased a pair of Skechers shoes. They have a pair of crossing straps on each shoe which are made of stretchy fabric. When I purchased the shoes, I paid little attention that on one of the straps, there was some glue. When I got home, that stain looked particularly awful and it kind of looks like snot smeared which is why I want to get rid of it ASAP. I've tried going back to the store to exchange them but they don't have my size anymore, so I need to do something about this. Any advice will be greatly appreciated!
