I am in Toronto Canada and i was under the impression that a vapor barrier is meant to go on the warm in winter side of the room. if that is the case then I thought i should have layers looking like this from inside the garage going looking up to my bonus room....

5/8 drywall taped and mudded
r-30 or better insulation (2X12 joists)
some kind of vapor barrier/spray foam?
subfloor
carpet.

Am I totally out to lunch?

Thanks,
