very likely all that accumulated junk's caused spalling,,, for the avg h/o, run a wire wheel down both sides of the joint face,,, you want them CLEAN !
next insert some backer rod ( clos'd cell's better ) of the proper diameter usually 25% larger than jnt width so it'll stay in place thru compression,,, blunt screwdriver'll work good for this.
nest, seal jnt w/(silicone-polyurethane) as per mtl's directions - usually the ratio's 2w:1d,,, 'tool' the sealant w/wet spoon or cake spatula - you want to force the mtl into the pores of the clean'd conc to promote better adhesion.
that's it - if there's any spillage, clean it up when its cured.
on joints in our long, concrete driveway have rotted out. The gaps are too uneven to replace with wood. I have searched the Web for a product to fill the gaps. I have been unable to find a product such as a rubber or synthetic strip that could be put in the space. I am unfamiliar with a self leveling caulk type product. I could use some good advice.
in theory, there's no difference 'tween theory & practice,,, in practice, there is ! Was this post helpful? Yes: or No:
